Users & Permissions Release: Decide Who Can Do What in Brandmachine
If several people work in your Brandmachine account, say the creative team, someone from e-commerce and an agency that delivers source images, every one of them could so far do everything, including releasing paid images and deleting a campaign together with its released images.
Brandmachine runs a brand's production for a whole season, and that is never one person's job. I wanted the tool to follow how your team splits that work. So you now decide what each person can do, admins can see what happened on the account, and the web app and the Shopify app are one account.
Roles for every person
Each person gets a role, and each role includes everything below it:
- Viewer can look at everything and change nothing.
- Member can upload and prepare work, but not generate.
- Creator can generate. This is the default when you invite someone.
- Approver can also release finished images and delete content.
- Admin can also invite people and manage the team and API access.
- Owner can also buy credits and manage billing.
An agency that only delivers source images gets Member, so it can upload without spending your credits. Viewers, Members and Creators cannot release an image or delete a campaign. Admins invite colleagues from Settings → Members and choose the role in the same step, and each person only sees the parts of the app their role allows.
API tokens work the same way. Each integration gets its own named token with its own role, so a script that only reads your images can run on a Viewer token and cannot change anything.
A record of what happened
Admins and owners now have an activity log under Settings → Activity. It records who invited, removed or changed whom, what was generated, released or deleted, and what our support team did on your account. If a campaign is gone, you can see who deleted it and when.
One account for the web app and the Shopify app
Until now you had to choose between the web app and the Shopify app. A brand that ended up on both had two accounts, and merging them was something we did for you by hand.
Now you link them yourself, with a one-time code from Settings → Connected stores, and the two apps become two views of one account: same library, same credits, same colleagues. Your online marketing team can keep working in the web app on the same images as the Shopify app, without anyone needing a Shopify user account.
Nothing changes until you set roles
Everyone who already uses Brandmachine is now an Owner of the account, so nobody has lost access. It also means nothing is restricted yet: until you change it, everyone in your account can still release, delete and buy credits.
Open Settings → Members and give each person the role that fits their work.
